Local and Regional Scholarships

Below is a list of the local and regional scholarships that arrive in the guidance office during the late winter/early spring. The vast majority of these scholarships are for seniors.

Although some award amounts are listed, please note that these amounts are subject to change from year-to-year. Also note that application deadlines change year-to-year.

When referencing the details of a scholarship application is it important to have the application from the correct year. This list is simply a reference for you.

These are some of the scholarship opportunities to come. As current scholarship applications are received, all seniors will receive an email including the details, application whereabouts and deadline. Additionally, multiple copies of all applications are hung outside the guidance office.

ADIRONDACK CYCLING ADVOCATES LLOYD MOTT CYCLING SCHOLARSHIP - The Adirondack Cycling Advocates (ACA) was formed under Mr. Lloyd Mott’s leadership to provide safe and quality cycling in the southeastern region of the Adirondacks. This year the ACA is pleased to announce an annual $2,500 Lloyd Mott Cycling Scholarship for a deserving High School Senior attending a fully accredited 2- or 4- year college/university or a licensed Trade School. We feel this is an opportunity to recognize a student that shows a passion to make cycling in our region a safer sport and mode of transportation.

ADIRONDACK PARALEGAL ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP - Award amount varies. This scholarship is available to any student who feels they need to apply for financial aid due to financial need. The applicants should have some community service and leadership experience.

ADIRONDACK SCHOOL COUNSELING ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP - The Adirondack School Counseling Assoc. Provides a $1500 scholarship to a senior planning to attend a 4 yr college to study human services, sociology, psychology, or a related “helping” field. This scholarship is awarded to Adirondack schools on a rotating basis. We are not offered this scholarship every year.

ADIRONDACK RUNNERS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP -

ADOPT A SOLDIER SCHOLARSHIP - 4 scholarship awards of $500. Applicants must have or have had a service member in their family.

Albany Musician's Association Inc. Tommy Ippolito Music Scholarship - Given to one or two talented instrumental and/or vocalists who will be pursuing a college education in music (major or minor).

The Albany Society for the Advancement of Philanthropy (ASAP) has provided more than $9500 in college scholarships to local area high school seniors that will be attending local Albany area colleges, universities, or trade programs. Seniors who wish to apply for this scholarship must complete a 500 word essay on “What I do to encourage others,” based on their achievements, commitments, and creativity.

Albany-Tula Multimedia Contest - For capital region HS students. $1000, $750, $500 prizes available.  Essay topic; How could relationship among international communities be useful in responding to global crises?

ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA SORORITY SCHOLARSHIP - For college bound young women who demonstrate academic achievement, community service and financial need. Awarded to female seniors who plan to attend a 4 year college or university.

AMERICAN PUBLIC WORKS ASSOCIATION NY CHAPTER CAPITAL DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIP -  The Capital District Branch of the APWA sponsors this scholarship for candidates pursuing a degree in Public Works related fields including but not exclusively in the fields of Engineering, Public Works Management/Administration/Operation or other programs within the public works profession.

THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS MOHAWK-HUDSON SECTION REGION 1 - A monetary award to a graduating senior seeking to continue their education with the goal and desire of becoming a practical civil engineer. This year, 2020, offering 4 $1000 scholarships.

BATTEN KILL VALLEY RUNNERS SCHOLARSHIP - A monetary award given to deserving high school seniors with an interest in running.

THE BECKER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP -High School seniors who have attended Greenwich Central for the full academic year are eligible to receive an award if he/she plans to attend some accredited institution of higher learning in the year following graduation from Greenwich.

BERKSHIRE BANK 2023 Next Gen Scholars - Through the program, we’ll grant twenty (20) $2,500.00 scholarships to students who have exemplified community service through their volunteer efforts, have been successful academically and have a financial need.  Below you will find a brief overview of the program and the details are also available on our website at www.berkshirebank.com/scholarships

THE BILL SHRADER MEMORAL SCHOLARSHIP - The Bill Shrader Sr. Memorial Scholarships have been established in the memory of Bill
Shrader, Sr., an outstanding life-long runner and one of the founding members of the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club. The purpose of the program is to encourage and support young runners in their efforts to make running a lifelong part of a healthy lifestyle. In 2021, four $3,000 non-renewable scholarships will be awarded to runners planning to attend a college, university or community college on a full-time basis.

C. David Barker Memorial Scholarship - (we have been advised to use this linked application even thought it stats it is from last year :0) Sponsored by Argyle EMS - To acknowledge the achievements of seniors for their volunteer service, in schools and their community who will continue their education in college, university or trade or technical school.

CANCER FIGHTING SCHOLARSHIP - The Cancer Fighter Scholarship seeks to honor ten (10) graduating high school seniors from around the nation who have been leaders in the fight against cancer. This includes students who have battled cancer themselves, helped loved ones/friends through cancer, or led the fight against cancer in their school and community.

CAP COM -  LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP - These 25 scholarships are given to honor 3 generous individuals within the CAP COM community. The essay question relates to success -what it means to you/ what you learned from success. Applicants must be a member of CAP COM Federal Credit Union, as well as a high school senior planning to go on to college.

CAP COM - ART GOEDEKE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - This $2000 scholarship is given in the name of longtime board member Art Goedeke who was passionate about computer science and information technology. Applicants must be a member of CAP COM Federal Credit Union, as well as a high school senior planning to go onto college to study computer science or technology.

CAP COM - TRADE AWARDS - CAP COM members who are high school seniors or students through age 25 planning to attend or attending a trade school.

CAPITAL DISTRICT CHAPTER NEW YORK STATE SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS - The New York State Society of Professional Engineers’ Capital District Chapter is offering scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,500 to graduating high school seniors in the Capital District who intend to study engineering.

CAPITAL DISTRICT COUNSELING ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP - three (3) $1,000 scholarships for Capital Region students. These scholarships are made available to local students who are enrolling at a Capital Region undergraduate institution. Either 2 or 4 year schools or transferring into a capital district 2 or 4 year school. DUE APRIL 1.

The Carol Hand Memorial Scholarship - is awarded to a Greenwich Central School graduating

student who has excelled in music during high school and has chosen to pursue his or her

further education in music and\or teaching after graduation. Carol Hand, who was best known

locally as the matriarch of the Hand Melon Family, attended Smith College and graduated with a

teaching certificate from UAlbany. Carol had a deep and abiding love of music.

Cameron's Story Scholarship - The Cameron's Story Project will award 2, $1000 scholarships to any graduating senior in New York State pursuing a future in health care. Due April 28th.

CEN MANUFACTURING SCHOLARSHIP -  A scholarship for capital region students enrolled in an engineering or manufacturing focused program.

CHIEF GEORGE BELL JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - To a graduating senior who is in pursuit of a future in criminal justice, fire science or paramedicine/emergency medical services. We will be looking for a senior who demonstrates the characteristics demonstrated by Chief Bell every day; dedication to public service, kindness, honesty and the desire to put the welfare of others before one's self.

CLIFTON G. SOUSIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - Award sponsored by Ashlar Charities Ltd to honor Cliff for his dedicated service to the youth of Greenwich. Cash award to two seniors going on to college who best exemplify Cliff’s attributes of character, compassion, and community service.

COMFORT FOOD/LUKEY FUND SCHOLARSHIP - 2, $500 scholarships awarded to students who exemplifies the values shared by the Comfort Food Community such as empathy, generosity, understanding of diverse populations, reliability, trustworthiness, respect for confidentiality and dedication to the cause of improving the Greenwich area, especially those with food insecurity.

CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP - This is a scholarship for anyone who has or who may be interested in opening an account with TCT or any other participating credit unions. The awards range from $500-$1500. DUE JANUARY 7th. 

CSEA DANIEL X CAMPBELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - CSEAs Capital Region will award a $750 scholarship in memory of Dan Campbell who was known as the voice of the CSEA and working families. This award is given to a graduate whose parent or guardian is a member of CSEAs Capital Region and is attending a NYS institution of higher education.

CSEA Unit #90520 Scholarship - The members of Greenwich CSEA Unit #90520 offer a scholarship to a graduate of GCS whose parents or grandparent is a member of our CSEA Unit.

DAVE VANDERZEE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP -  The Board of Directors of Bridging People and Places established this scholarship in memory of Dave Vanderzee, founder of Willard Mountain Ski Area. This $500 award is offered to any young person who has faced a serious illness or serious life crisis. Applicants must be enrolled in a certified technical or vocational training program, or an undergraduate or graduate program, for the semester following the application.

Deputy Chief Brien Buell Memorial Scholarship - A $1000 scholarship given to a Greenwich senior with a unique appreciation and perspective for first responders. Given to a student who intends to pursue a career as a first responder.

DeWALT SCHOLARHSIP FOR THE TRADES - Stanley Black & Decker has established the DEWALT Trades Scholarship to assist individuals attending a two-year college or vocational-technical school who are pursuing a trade degree/certificate in an industry aligned with the Stanley Black & Decker Trade Goals – including but are not limited to Construction, Industrial, Motor/Power Sector, Mechanics, and Technology.

DR. JOSEPH E. BOWMAN Jr. MEMORAL SCHOLARSHIP - The Macedonia Baptist Church Dr. Joseph E. Bowman, Jr. Memorial Educational Scholarship is a direct investment in the future of underrepresented students seeking careers at the college level in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). DUE April 15.

Dr. William E. Carroll Memorial Scholarship - For students showing academic achievement, kindness, compassion, financial need, community service, concern for others. Attending a trade program or college next year. 

ELKS AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP - An award of $250 will be given to a high school senior. Scholarships are based on on “Leadership and Volunteerism” to a student who will be continuing their education in the fall.

ELKS LEGACY SCHOLARSHIP -  Legacy Awards are $4,000 scholarships available to children and grandchildren of Elks members. Eligibility requirements are outlined below.

ELKS MOST VALUABLE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP - The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four year scholarships to the highest rated applicants, ranging from $1000 per year to $12,500 per year. Applicants must be high school seniors pursuing a 4 year degree and be enrolled full time to qualify. Applicants need not be related to an Elks member.

EMPIRE STATE POTATO GROWERS SCHOLARSHIP - This is a $500 award given for up to 4 consecutive academic years of undergraduate education. The award is given to a student pursuing college studies benefiting the agricultural industry.

THE FAMILY DENTISTRY GROUP - To a graduating high school senior from our local communities. 7, $1500 scholarships will be competitively awarded based on a set list of guidelines, found on the attached document.

FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS - The Firemen’s Association of the State of NY will be awarding 25 - $1500 scholarships. These scholarships are available to volunteer firefighters, Junior Firefighters, Explorers and Rams.

FORT EDWARD HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION STUDENT ART SHOW AND SCHOLARSHIP -

GREENWICH COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS - Student must be planning to attend an accredited institution of higher learning in the year following graduation. Awards based on student’s academic standing and financial need.

GREENWICH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP - A monetary award made to any senior who has been accepted into a NYS college and plans t0 major in a business related field.

GREENWICH PTSA SCHOLARSHIP - A scholarship given to any graduating senior who has positively contributed to their family, school and/or community.

GREENWICH TEACHERS ASSOCIATION PEDAGOGICAL AWARD - A monetary award made to a senior planning a career in preschool, elementary, or secondary education.

HUDSON MOHAWK AREA HEALTH EDUCATION CENTER - (Due March 17, 2023) A monetary award to any senior entering a healthcare related certificate or degree program at a local community college, university or training entity within NYS.

Hudson River Crossing Seedling Award - A monetary award made to a senior who has shown to be a leader and role model among their peers. Has shown a commitment to environmental preservation and efforts to support the community.

HUDSON RIVER COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP - Must be a member of the credit union. Due April 30.

HVAC HERO SCHOLARSHIP - The HVAC HERO Scholarship Program was established to recognize the excellent and deserving students seeking an HVAC technical education. This scholarship provides essential financial support to aspiring residential HVAC, or home performance contracting careers.

J. WALTER FITZPATRICK AWARD - An award presented by the Greenwich Lions Club, given to a senior who has done the most for their community.

The Joan Grishkot Memorial Scholarship (Due March 3rd 2023) provides funding for residents of New York State who reside in Warren, Washington or Saratoga county to pursue the study of nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy and other related medical fields. The scholarship is given in memory of Joan Grishkot of Glens Falls, a long-time nurse, public health executive and community leader, and co-organizer of the Adirondack Balloon Festival. Scholarship awards will be at least $2,500 per year, for up to four years, depending on the number of qualified applicants in any given year.

 LEE SHAW MEMORAL SCHOLARSHIP - To honor the memory of jazz pianist Dr. Lee Shaw, a scholarship fund has been established by Swingtime Jazz Society.  A monetary award of $1000 will be presented to benefit a senior who has participated in music activities, either band and/or choir, shown scholarship and leadership qualities and plans on pursuing a music degree with a focus on jazz studies in college. The application form, Lee Shaw compositions and list of jazz standards that Lee played are at www.swingtimejazz.org/Lee_Shaw.htm.  

LUCKY FUND COMFORT FOODS SCHOLARSHIP - A monetary award made to two high school seniors at GCSD who have made significant contributions in areas that support Comfort Food Community’s mission to end hunger and build community through the power of good food.

MATHCOUNTS ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP - This $3000 scholarship is awarded to students who participated in Mathcounts in 7th or 8th grade. Applicants may be seniors in high school, students attending 2-4 yr community colleges, colleges and universities, and student currently pursuing graduate studies at accredited universities.

The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Scholarship - The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships to eligible children of Marines and Navy Corpsmen, Chaplains, and Religious Program Specialists. Scholarships are for children pursuing a post-secondary education at any accredited school--whether that be a trade school, career training school, community college, or four-year university. Scholarships are also available for CTE non-degree certificate programs. For more information regarding the Career and Technical Education Program, please refer to the CTE brochure.

MARI COPENY SCHOLARSHIP - The Mari Copeny Award will be given to the graduating high school senior that best embodies the ideals and values of
activist Mari Copeny. A 13-year-old from the city of Flint, Michigan, Mari has been a selfless and brave leader in her community. For students who care about the world around them and recognize their positions in making the world a better place.

MEN'S COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP -The scholarship is designed to identify and reward outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated an ability to excel in the fields of academics, extra-curricular school activities, and community involvement. The scholarship is available to any male, graduating senior from an accredited high school who is enrolling in a four-year undergraduate college program that commences in the fall.

MICHAEL "NICK" KARP MEMORAL SCHOLARSHIP - Michael Karp was a lifelong Greenwich resident with served his country in the US Navy during WWII, was an active member in local VFW Post and American Legion Unit, Served as a volunteer fireman and past Chief, was the Town of Greenwich Supervisor and Local business owner for many years. This award is given by VFW Post #7291 and it's Auxiliary to a graduating senior who has demonstrated motivation, good citizenship, community involvement and concern for others. Consideration would be given if enlisting in any one of the branches of the Armed Forces.

MILITARY CONNECTION SCHOLARSHIP - (4) %500.00 scholarships will be awarded. To be eligible to apply students must have or had a service member in their family.

MOHAWK AMBULANCE SERVICES - Mohawk Ambulance Service has established a scholarship program to assist high school students who plan to continue their education and career in Emergency Services. It is our goal to not only financially support our students, but provide them with the additional educational and morale support needed to successfully complete the EMT program in order to achieve their NYS EMT Certification. It is our hope that by achieving this certification we will create a life-long member of Mohawk Ambulance Service who can serve our community for many years to come.

The National Association of Women in Construction - For a graduating high school female attending an accredited college in the US. Student must be pursuing a degree in construction (construction management, architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, structural engineering etc.)

The National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) - DUE March 15, 2023 is made up of 26 inter/national sororities and is the largest advocacy and support organization for the women’s-only sorority experience. Beginning with women graduating high school in 2023, NPC plans to award 10 college scholarships of US$2,000 each annually through our new NPC Centennial Scholarships Program. The scholarships may be used to offset college tuition, dues and fees.

NED CARTER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - The Association of Fire Districts of NYS is sponsoring 4 - $1500 scholarships in honor of Past President Ned Carter. Applicants must be related to a firefighter, be a firefighter, related to a fire District Commissioner, Fire District Treasurer or Deputy Treasurer, or Fire District Administrator/Manager or be an Explorer in a fire dept of a Fire District that is currently a paid up member of the Association of Fire Districts of NYS. These scholarships are available to high school seniors who will be attending a 2 or 4 year college to pursue a career in a community service related discipline.

NESCA Educational Foundation Scholarship - several $1000 to $15000 scholarships for students pursuing a construction related career (constructions management, engineering, construction technology, project manager, architecture, ...)

NEW YORK CREDIT UNION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS - These scholarships are available to members of a participating NY credit union. These awards are for college bound high school seniors attending college for the first time. Students must be enrolled in a 2 or 4 year accredited educational institution.

NEW YORK STATE SCHOOL FACILITIES ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND - The purpose of the scholarship is to provide tuition assistance to a 2020 Graduate from a school district, who’s Director of Facilities is a member of the Capital District Chapter - New York State School Facilities Association in the current school year.  Preference will be given to a Chapter Members immediate family (unmarried child).  This scholarship is for a 2020 Graduate who will be attending a vocational trade school or pursuing a degree in facilities, engineering, architecture or a related field.

NEW  YORK STATE SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERS - A scholarship for young people pursuing an engineering career ranging from $1000.00 to $2500.00 to student who attend an ATEB-accredited engineering program.

NEW YORK WATER ENVIRONMENT ASSOCIATION (NYWEA) SCHOLARSHIPS  (Due Feb. 28 @ 5PM)-  Offering multiple scholarships.

NORMA A. GANNON MEMORAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE - A scholarship given to a graduating senior who has demonstrated leadership experience or community service or volunteered in a variety of activities while at Greenwich Central School.

NYSUT RETIREE COUNCIL 10 - (student announcement here)This scholarship will be given to one qualified student from each of the 4 counties represented by RC 10 (Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Washington). The $1000 award is given to graduating seniors pursuing a degree in education at either a 2 yr college transfer program or a 4 yr college.

OPERATION ADOPT A SOLDIER SCHOLARSHIP - Graduating seniors may apply for 1 of 4 - $250 scholarships, sponsored by the volunteer members of Operation Adopt A Soldier. Student must have or had a service member in his/her family.

PATRICK R. NOLAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $500.00 - Due May 15th - Pat Nolan had played for decades throughout the local region and beyond, including several years in the band, King’s English. This scholarship is available to students throughout Warren and Washington Counties, two of the areas that Pat entertained the most over the years. All we ask is for the applying student to send a brief essay explaining their plans in college and why they’re pursuing music, or what type of music they enjoy- pretty much anything along those lines. The rules aren’t particularly stringent, more so just trying to have them give us a little insight into their love of music and how it started for them or what artists they enjoy. The essays can be submitted via email to patrickrnolanscholarship@gmail.com.

PB&J Scholarship - For students who have experiences personal life challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but still have the drive to succeed. No GPA requirement.

PHILLIS SHARP AWARD - Given to a senior who demonstrates a love of literature, a passion for writing and an altruistic nature in order to help them begin their path toward a caring and productive life.

PixelPlex STEM scholarship - A bi-annual scholarship to help support and inspire students to pursue further education in the STEM fields.

PRICE CHOPPER & MARKET 32 SUPERMARKETS SCHOLARSHIPS - There are several scholarships offered by Price Chopper & Market 32 Supermarkets. Details and applications can be found online. These scholarships are given out by region.

PRUDENTIAL EMERGING VISIONARIES - Prudential Emerging Visionaries is a national program celebrating changemakers ages 14-18 with innovative solutions to financial and societal challenges in their communities and beyond.

PTSA Jenkins Memorial Scholarship -The Jenkins Memorial Scholarship application for high school seniors who will be pursuing a degree in education. Yu can find the fillable application here.

Runners Club Scholarship - Runners Club Scholarship Application. The Scholarship is funded through monies raised through local Club Races. Due to the impact of COVID, most local races were not held in 2021 and while funds are limited,  we will award (4) scholarships in the amount of $500.

ROGER H. JONES NESCA SCHOLARSHIP - The NESCA Educational Foundation, Inc. has several $1,000 scholarship(s) available for students entering or enrolled in a construction-related program of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university for the 2022-23 academic year. Construction-related program of study includes curricula in such fields as construction technology, construction management, project management, architecture and engineering.

The Renaissance Award - Monetary Award: $500 to an eligible graduating senior of Greenwich Central School (or (2) $250 awards depending on the consensus of the committee after reviewing the applicants’ digital media projects.

SARATOGA BUILDERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP - These scholarships are open to any high school senior or college undergraduate in Saratoga County who is planning to pursue a construction education at a 2 or 4-year accredited college or university or to students who would like to purchase tools and/or equipment for employment/career or to start a business in the construction industry.

SARATOGA HOSPITAL VOLUNTEER GUILD SCHOLARSHIP - The Saratoga Hospital Guild is offering 5 - $1500 scholarships to high school seniors interested in pursuing healthcare careers. Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and must have documented volunteer participation in healthcare programs.

SCOTT VASQUEZI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - Given through the Eastern New York Lumbers Dealers Association. For an employee or a dependent of an employee of the ENYLDA.

SCHUYLERVILLE COMMUNITY THEATER SCHOLARSHIP - This award is given to high school seniors who wish to pursue a degree in music, dance, drama or theater arts.

SEFCU SMART SENSE SCHOLARSHIP - These scholarships are for State employees who are members of the federal credit union. https://www.sefcu.com/sefcu-scholarships

SOROPTIMIST VIOLET RICHARDSON AWARD - This award recognizes young women between the ages of 14-17 who make the community and world better through volunteer efforts. These are women who have demonstrated initiative in both identifying a problem and trying to solve it.

STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS.ORG - These scholarships are updated monthly to include scholarships that are due in the upcoming months.

TCT FEDERAL CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP - TCT FCU is offering college-bound high school seniors the opportunity to compete for statewide college scholarships through the New York Credit Union Association’s College Scholarship Program. Scholarships may be used at a two- or four-year accredited educational institution, vocational or trade schools. In 2022, the New York Credit Union Association awarded $33,750 in college scholarships, ranging from $500 to $1,500, to 45 students. TCT awarded $9,000 in college scholarships to 10 high school seniors.

THE BATTEN KILL VALLEY RUNNERS SCHOLARSHIP - Each year the Batten Kill Valley Runners Club (BKVR) issues scholarships to deserving high school and college students with an interest in running.  The amount of these awards varies from year to year but may range from $250.00 to $5,000.00 depending on the applicant’s qualifications and the number of applicants.  The program is open to students within southern Vermont and southern Washington County, New York, with priority given to applicants who have been members of the BKVR for at least one year.

THE BRUCE H. HAMILTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - The Washington County Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association presents this $500 award to students who are seeking advancement through education in the criminal justice field and/or have had a positive impact on their community.

THE DONALD J. NASSIVERA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - The Washington County Deputy Sheriff’s Police Benevolent Association presents this award of $500 to Washington County students who are seeking advancement through education in the criminal justice field and/or have had a positive impact in their community.

THE RENAISSANCE AWARD - A monetary award $500 to a graduating senior of GCS (or 2- $250 awards) given in memory of colleague, friend, and Renaissance Man, Brady Waite. Please submit a digital media project (30 seconds to 2 minutes) that conveys your passion in one or more of the area Brady Waite also found interesting. Areas include - Computer Science, Mathematics, Photography, Writing, Science Fiction, Karate, And Quick Wit & Impersonations.

THE RISE ABOVE PERSEVERANCE AWARD - Award given to a graduating high school senior who has overcome personal, health, financial or family issues with a goal or entrepreneurship or college. A $1000 award given to a single student or split between 2 deserving individuals.

THE VIOLET RICHARDSON AWARD - For young women between the age of 14 and 17 who volunteers in your community or school? Who sees challenges instead of obstacles? Hope instead of despair? If you are a young woman who believes in the power of volunteer action, then you may be eligible to win a Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award.

THRUWAY AUTHORITY SKILLED TRADES SCHOLARSHIP - The Thruway Authority wants you! We are hiring students pursuing a career in trades (carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing) and awarding them $1,000 toward their education. Be sure to apply for the 2023 Thruway Skilled Trades Scholarship and full-time, benefits eligible Thruway employment.

As a full-time, permanent Thruway Authority employee, recipients are also eligible for up to 90 percent tuition reimbursement. The scholarship is a supplemental payment to help defray trade educational costs. The combination allows awardees to begin their career in a trades program at little to no cost to themselves!

TRI-COUNTY EXECUTIVE OFFICER’S SCHOLARSHIP -  This $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is continuing their education and pursuing a career in the field of food service/hospitality.  (chef, cook-manager, restaurant, school, healthcare, or dietitian)

UPPER HUDSON VALLEY RIVER BRANCH- NATIONAL DEER ASSOCIATION - $500 - For students going into a variety of fields related to the outdoors, hunting, conservation etc.

UPSTATE NY SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP - any student can apply who plans to attend a 2 or 4 year college or trade school.

The Walter Grishkot Memorial Scholarship (Due March 3rd, 2023) provides funding for residents of New York State who reside in Warren, Washington or Saratoga county to pursue the study of aviation, aeronautics or related fields. The scholarship is given in memory of Walter Grishkot of Glens Falls, a long-time photographer, promoter and event planner, who had a lifelong passion for aviation. Grishkot was best known as co-founder and long-time organizer of the Adirondack Balloon Festival. Scholarship awards will be at least $2,500 per year, for up to four years, depending on the number of qualified applicants in any given year.

WASHINGTON COUNTY FAIR SCHOLARSHIP - The Washington County Fair awards 5- $500 scholarships to individuals who are currently, or previously have been, active in the Washington County Fair.

WASHINGTON COUNTY FARM BUREAU - Several $500 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors or current college students pursuing a career in agriculture or agribusiness.

THE WILDA B. MACKNIGHT MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - This scholarship honors the life of Wilda MacKnight, a person of kindness, generosity, zest for life and tremendous character who valued the care of children and community service. She was an educator, and a volunteer at GF Hospital Crandall Library and the Washington County Children's Committee, and served her community with special attention toward helping better the lives of children in Washington County - especially those in the foster care system.

WILLARD MOUNTAIN BRIDGING PEOPLE AND PLACES SCHOLARSHIP - In memory of Dave Vanderzee, founder of Willard Mountain. For students pursuing a future in engineering or health care.

THE WILLIAM MOREHOUSE SCHOLARSHIP - Presented by NYSBA's Research & Education Foundation, the William Morehouse Scholarship was instituted to assist students who are entering a course of study SPECIFIC to the residential construction industry. Its purpose is to assist students in their pursuit of a career in residential construction and to provide employers in New York State with a strong, industry-qualified workforce. CRBRA is proud to partner with NYSBA REF in this important effort to help build a qualified workforce in the Capital Region. As such, CRBRA will match $500/applicant for up to three applicants who are approved for a scholarship by the REF Scholarship Committee. 

AngioDynamics STEM “Women in Technology'' Award - The goal of the Zonta STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Scholarship is to encourage more young women to pursue a higher education degree in the STEM fields, while also recognizing leadership achievements in these fields and dedication to the advancement of the status of women.  There are two $500 awards. APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1, 2023

YMCA EARTH SERVICE AWARD - All students in grades 9-12 residing or attending school in Warren, Washington, or Saratoga Counties are eligible to apply. Students will be honored based on - Contributions towards the improvement of natural resources and the environment, and Leadership demonstrated in the planning and execution of an environmentally themed project, program, or service to the community. Scholarship is $1000.

Young Women in Public Affairs Award - The goal of the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Award Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and dedication to empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy. The club reviews the applications it receives, and selects a single Zonta Club of Glens Falls candidate.  Each club candidate becomes a District finalist. Local award up to $500 with the candidate’s name being passed on to Zonta International. APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 15, 2023

2023 Zonta Club of Glens Falls Scholarship -This scholarship is focused on the under-served segment of potential applicants. It is our intent to support those students who may not always excel academically, but demonstrate a passion or talent not always recognized by traditional scholarship programs. The Scholarship awarded varies in value and typically ranges from $1,000 to $2500.APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1, 2023

Zonta Women in STEM Scholarship - In 2019 and 2021, Zonta International was pleased to support the Zonta International Women in Technology Scholarships to encourage women to pursue education, career opportunities and leadership roles in information technology. In June 2022, the Zonta International membership voted to continue the program with an expanded focus on all STEM fields, not only technology. With this change, the Zonta International Board approved a name change and will offer the Zonta International Women in STEM Scholarship for the third cycle of the scholarship program.
