Hello Greenwich Families,
In the upcoming days and weeks, the district will administer the New York State Grades 3-8 English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics Tests to students. In addition, the New York State Science Exam will be administered in eighth grade. The statewide exams are designed to measure how well students are mastering the learning standards that guide classroom instruction and to provide the district with valuable information on a student’s learning and growth.
The ELA exam will be given between April 19-26, the math exam will be given between May 2-9, and the science exam will be given to students in eighth grade between May 23 – June 1. More information will be coming from your child’s principal containing the specific dates and times of the assessments.
Our instructional staff has been preparing students to take the assessments and apply the many concepts they have learned throughout the school year. If you have any questions about the NYS assessments, please contact your student’s building principal. You can find more information about the state tests on the State Education Department’s website.
