Today we received notice from the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York that Kathryn Campbell's Gold Award final report is approved! She has officially earned her Gold Award, the highest award for Girl Scout Seniors and the capstone of her Girl Scouting experience. As a Gold Award Girl Scout, she is part of a special group of women who, throughout the history of Girl Scouting, have used their vision for lasting change to make the world a better place. Kat's work to help our community will benefit them greatly!

Kathryn has been in Girl Scout Troop 3765 for over 13 years.  For her Gold Award Kat coordinated, installed and outfitted a warming hut for snowmobilers on Trail C9 at the Fedler Farm off Petteys Road in Greenwich.  It is a safe haven for riders and hikers with heat, tools, first aid kit, shelter, fire-pit, picnic table, fire starting supplies and a display/photo opportunity 1971 SkiDoo Snowmobile she restored and installed on the roof.

Her prerequisites included completion of her Journeys, the Bronze award where her and the Troop created 2 Kindness Benches and had them installed at Greenwich Central School and for her Silver Award the Troop refurbished, documented and mapped over 150 headstones at Bottskill Baptist Church in Greenwich.

Kathryn was also recognized by the Washington County Board of Supervisors in February 2023.  A Snowmobile Club Ride In was held in March for the Grand Opening of the Warming Hut with over 40 riders snowmobiling in to celebrate.

Kathryn plans to attend the University of New Hampshire in the fall majoring in Marine Biology.
