Mock Trial Team

Congratulations to the Greenwich Mock Trial team who performed exceptionally well this year placing second in the eight county region of Columbia, Greene, Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties by a one mere point difference. Preparations began in October and competitions ran from late February through early April. The final regional competitions took place on Saturday, April 22nd at the Warren County Courthouse beginning at 9:00 am and concluding at approximately 6:00 p.m. after three rounds of trials.

The mock trial is first and foremost an educational program designed to teach high school students basic trial skills.  Students learn how to conduct direct and cross examinations, how to present opening and closing statements, how to think on their feet and learn the dynamics of a courtroom.  Students also learn how to analyze legal issues and apply the law to the facts of the case.  Secondly, but equally important, is that participation in the mock trial teaches the students professionalism.  Students learn ethics, civility, and how to be ardent but courteous advocates for their clients.  Good sportsmanship and respect for all participants are central to the competition.

A special thank you to Faith Ingber, Greenwich Class of 2023; the Honorable Glen T. Bruening, Warren/Washington County Coordinator; and Ms. Chris Timber attorney advisor.

Congratulations to the team for a commendable performance.
