School Board

The New York State School Boards Association recognizes October 18 - 22 as School Board Recognition Week. This is a time to promote awareness and understanding of the important work performed by school board members. Greenwich Central School District is joining all public school districts across the state to celebrate School Board Recognition Week to honor local board members for their commitment to Greenwich and its children.

We think it is a perfect opportunity to recognize our school board members for their hard work and commitment to improving outcomes for our students.  It is also the right time to remind everyone about the important role school boards have in the governance and oversight of public education. School board members take on one of the most important citizen responsibilities: overseeing the education of the community’s youth.

Many school boards across the state are facing unprecedented challenges in trying to navigate controversial topics. With all the headlines, it would be easy to get the wrong impression of what school boards actually do.  We want to bring the focus back to the key work of our volunteer school board members who are elected to help their districts establish a strategic plan, create budgets, adopt policies and much more!

“It takes strong schools to build a strong community, and these men and women devote countless hours to making sure our schools are helping every child learn at a higher level,” Superintendent Mark Fish said. “They make the tough decisions every month and spend many hours studying education issues and regulations in order to provide the kind of accountability our citizens expect.”

The members serving our district are as follows: Erin Boivin, Michael Conlin, Marie Grimmke, Laura Lemoine – Vice President, and James Nolan – President.

Thank you for your dedicated leadership in public education and continuing service to the children of this community.
